BTCL entered in Final after defeating tournament favorites Bhutan Telecom by 47 runs at Jigmethang. BTCL elected to bat first after winning the toss and managed to score 182 runs all-out in 31.3 overs. Openers Tandin and Ugyen contributed partnership of 17 runs before Ugyen’s wicket was unfortunately taken by Tandin Wangchuk in his in-swing bowl click the tip of the bell. Veteran batsman Tshering Tashi went to score quick fire of 11 runs in 9 balls was trapped Leg before (LBW) of Tandin’s bowl when he went for defensive stoke on back foot. BT’s opening bowlers Tandin and Sherab continued with the pressure to shattered BTCL batsmen but Phuntsho (21 runs) and opener Tandin played sensibly to get the momentum added partnership of 18 runs in next 8 overs however BTCL fell to maintain their run rate.

BT’s change in bowling introduced Jigme Singye (leggy) gave 10 runs in his first over but immediately came back on the tack bowled Phuntsho who fell to pick up Jigme’s Doosra. BTCL was 71 for 3 in 14 overs with a run rate of 5.2 (RPO). Tournament most consistent batsman Thinley, has a record of highest partnership fell to continue with his form was stumped out in Jigme Singye leg spin at 6 runs and so on with Phuntsho, in-form batsmen of tournament with a best average was run-out by Dechen while stealing single just contributed 9 runs. Opening batsmen Tandin was looking well set up but BTCL eight batsmen just added 54 runs batting with him. BTCL’s hopes of big target was almost shattered by BT’s bowlers but Barun wakhley know for his hard hitting again helped BTCL to have a decent target. Barun faced 18 balls and scored 27 runs and also set a partnership of 52 runs with opener batsman Tandin. Barun played only 3 overs but his hard hitting came at Tandin’s ninth overs when he hit 3 sixes and a 4 to add 22 runs in 6 balls before he was caught and bowl by Jigme. Opening batsmen Tandin, who played an anchoring role adding 69 runs to helped BTCL to stay still alive.  Later BT’s captain Dorji, tired bowling slow medium was successful to get opening batsman Tandin at 69 runs along with Tenzin’s wicket who was trapped Leg before (LBW). BT’s Tandin and Jigme took 3 wickets each. BTCL was 181 runs all-out in 31.1 overs.

In the second inning of the match, BT’s openers Jigme  Singye and Tashi were looking comfortable facing BTCL pace bowlers maintaining 6.3 run rate  per over before Tashi was trapped Leg before wicket (LBW) of Dargay’s bowl in the 6 overs at 39 runs on the board.  Jigme made 11 and fell victim to Tenzin’s bowl which was caught at mid-on by Dargay. Spinner Tandin Wangchuk was introduced in 12 overs by BTCL captain which didn’t seem to be right move from the captain.

BTCL was struggling to take wicket until BTCL captain Phuntsho Wangdi took back to back wicket calming three wickets in just one over. Since then Bhutan Telecom was under pressure as the wicket kept falling in the regular interval. At the end of 16 overs, rain started to pour heavily and the match was stopped for 20 minutes. After the game resume, the wicket favored the BTCL pace bowlers as the wicket was wet the ball was faster than expected which tapped the telecom batsmen even the wicket was batting wicket. Bhutan Telecom captain Dorji was playing sensible batting and required partnership to sail the team to final. When the 8th batsman Siva came in the game was slowly turning towards telecom way as the BTCL spinners were struggling to take wicket and the runs were flowing swiftly. But medium pacer Dargey came to rescue BTCL by taking crucial wicket of Captain Dorji and Siva. Phuntsho Wangdi quickly rattled the tail enders in one over taking BTCL to final.
BTCL captain Phuntsho Wangdi was awarded man of the match for his brilliant 6 wicket haul. BTCL will either face Rigsum CC or Youth 11 on Sunday’s final.
