Bhutan’s U-19 cricket team beat China by 59 runs in their opening match in the ongoing U-19 challenge cup held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

In the rain affected match, the game was reduced to 24 overs. After winning the toss, China put Bhutan into bat. Known for his big hitting, Bhutan’s opening batsman Thinley Jamtsho scored 54 runs from 50 balls.
Team captain Jigme Singye showed his class with a quick 56 runs of 45 balls to take his team to 145 runs after the end of 24 overs with only six wickets.
In reply, China was outclassed by Bhutan’s good mixture of spin and pace bowling. China was wrapped up for 87 runs. Sisir Raj Sharma was the pick of the bowlers for Bhutan with three wickets.
“We played against China in our earlier tournaments, so we were quite confident,” said Jigme Singye. “China having participated at the Asian games and keeping in mind the infrastructure and cricketing facilities in China, we played at our best,” he added. Jigme Singye was named the man of the match.
