U-19 Challenge Cup 7 July, 2011 - Bhutan earned their third consecutive win and booked a place in the semi-final after thrashing Iran by 94 runs at the on-going U-19 Challenge Cup held in Malaysia. 

Bhutan now stands at the top of the Group B with six points.
Bhutan elected to bat first after winning the toss. Having missed an opportunity for a half century in the previous match, Susil Sharma Luitel went scored 61 runs of 53 balls.
Captain Jigme Singye was ever reliable as he also crossed the half century mark with 68 runs from 65 balls. The two, took the score to 200 after the end of 41 overs.
Bhutan’s bowling department yet again did the job for the team as they bundled Iran’s innings for 107 runs. Nima Gurung continued his impressive bowling, claiming three wickets and giving away only 11 runs from his 10 overs. Susil Sharma Luitel also picked up three wickets from 10 overs.
Susil Sharma was declared as the man of the match for his all-round performance.

“I’m glad that I could contribute to the win,” Susil Sharma in an email interview said. “But our real task starts from the next match when we play Saudi Arabia, who are in really good form,” he added.
“It was a great win and I’m really glad that we made it to the semis,” said Nima Gurung, who took five wickets and maintains a good run-rate in the tournament. “It will be a great challenge for me to play in the semis, and if I can give my team some early wickets I can put my team in a really good position ,” he added.
Bhutan will play Saudi Arabia in the semis at the Selangor Turf Club ground tomorrow while Kuwait will play China in the other semi-final.
It will be Bhutan’s second appearance in the U-19 Challenge Cup final if they make it to the final. Bhutan reached their first final in 2008 that they lost to Saudi Arabia by 59 runs. This will be Bhutan’s fourth meet against Saudi Arabia.
History is not on Bhutan’s side and the team will have to put up a brilliant performance to knock out the Saudis. Bhutan lost all three previous meetings to the men form the middle east.
