Bhutan Cricket- Getting Better

Two officials from BCCB visited Paro and Punakha districts last week to survey grounds for net facilities in each school.  Coaches were also called for meeting to discuss on school tournament, coaching work and Coaches Development Program.

Regarding school tournament, they said they should necessitate learning the laws of cricket otherwise they game won’t be fair. “It is necessary that each student should know the cricket law and it is the responsibilities of coaches to teach them. At present coaches are not aware of cricket laws said District Coordinator, Paro.

Other aspect for advancing correct techniques, each school required net facilities and more cricket equipments.

BCCB’s idea is to conduct 20 coaching session with coaches and select top four from each district. Later in mid December, selected coaches will go under 3 weeks coaches camp; where they will do the final preparation for ACC Level 1 to be held in February next year. “It was clearly explained to coaches and benefit that they are going to achieve” said the official.

Every coach has accepted to go through this program. In Punakha the program will commence from 17th Oct and from 21st Oct in Paro. Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday three sessions will be conducted in Paro and Monday to Wednesday will be in Punakha. One of the coaches will be assigned in each district.

During this tour, coaching session was conducted with Ugyen Academy students. Both boys and girls took part in this activity.
BCCB officials will visit Sarpang and Thimphu districts next week.
