The 11th Asia Cup, to be held in Bangladesh from March 12 to 22 in 2012 has been formally announced to the local press in Dhaka. ACC and BCB President AHM Mustafa Kamal along with BCB CEO Manzur Ahmed and BCB Director Mohammad Jalal Yunus joined ACC Chief Executive Syed Ashraful Huq on the podium to launch the event. 100 members of the print and electronic media were on hand to receive the news.

“We’re thrilled that the Asia Cup is going to be held in Bangladesh next year,” said Mr. Kamal, “it’s the first time since 2000 that it is being held here and yet again, one year after the World Cup, we’re going to show the world what a great place Bangladesh is to play cricket in. Bangladesh is proud to receive the trust of the ACC in being asked to host the event.” The ACC Chief Executive in unveiling the Asia Cup schedule went on to say, “we have total confidence in Bangladesh’s ability to deliver, a local Event Manager Iftekhar Rahman has been appointed and now, with little more than eleven weeks to go until India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka fly in, everything is proceeding on schedule. The event Host’s Agreement is available for all to see on the ACC website.”

“As ever, we are grateful to the Test-playing nations for making time in their packed schedules for the Asia Cup. The cause of development and Asia is big in their hearts. Next year the ACC is holding an U-19 Asia Cup in Malaysia and a Women’s Asia Twenty 20 Cup in China, with the Test-playing nations being involved which gives our top developing teams a chance to play against the best,” the ACC Chief Executive went on to say.
